The Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribal Fish and Game is responsible for carrying out a wide range of duties related to fish, wildlife, and livestock regulations, outdoor recreation, and public safety on the 2.3-million-acre Wind River Indian Reservation. Specifically, we provide wildlife management on behalf of the Tribes for big game animals, fishing seasons, trapping of certain species, and hunting of upland game birds and waterfowl. In addition, we provide oversight for the tribal youth forestry program, invasive species wildlife control projects, endangered species activities, and search and rescue efforts. Our staff of eight, including four game wardens, work out of our headquarters in Fort Washakie.

Our Purpose

Ensure proper wildlife management and protection on the Wind River Indian Reservation while concurrently providing the opportunity for tribal members to utilize the wildlife resources.

Eco-Tourism on Wind River

This video is a result of a project between the Wind River Indian Reservation and Indifly, a non-profit organization that empowers Indigenous communities to protect their resources through fly fishing eco-tourism.
