The Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribal Fish and Game is dedicated to fostering connections between our community members and the land, inspiring traditional stewardship of our natural resources. We currently deliver two community programs to accomplish this: Shoshone & Arapaho Fish and Game Youth Program and Wind River Tribal Outdoors Women.

Youth Program

The Shoshone & Arapaho Fish and Game Youth Program is dedicated to helping tribal youth discover the great outdoors and inspire the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts. Through hands-on learning, cultural engagement, and outdoor education, we empower youth to carry forward the rich traditions of land management and conservation on the Wind River Reservation.

Program Details

Trout in the Classroom

In partnership with Trout Unlimited, the youth program has brought Trout in the Classroom to the Wind River Reservation. Youth are able to raise trout in their classrooms, hatching them from eggs and eventually releasing them into an approved fishery on the Reservation.

National Archery in the Schools Program

Our youth program partners with Wyoming Game and Fish to bring a national archery program to the Wind River Reservation. Students learn focus, self-control, discipline, patience, and life lessons to be successful in the classroom and in life.

Fishing

We support our local schools to deliver hands-on fishing activities and teach individual youth the art and skill of fishing on the Wind River Indian Reservation.

Education

Our youth program travels to the various schools across the Reservation for presentations to tribal youth that instill knowledge on the importance of responsible outdoor recreation and resource management.

Hunting

Tribal youth participants who are of the appropriate age learn gun safety and develop their marksmanship skills in preparation for their first big game hunt.
